I wonder has Mark McGwire ever stopped and considered the future of his soul. You see, Mark McGwire is a sinner: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23)." All means everybody, including you and me. We're all sinners whether you accept this truth or not.
While there is absolutely nothing wrong with playing professional baseball, but what is wrong is when a player such as Mark McGwire, becomes puffed up with pride, never giving Jesus Christ all the praises, honor and glory for his accomplishments. Thanking the "man upstairs" is far from thanking God, therefore, do not be deceived by that hog wash. There are many gods, but there is only one God almighty and He lives in Heaven, and He is Holy, and He has a name, and that name is Jesus Christ.
But how could Mark McGwire give God the glory when he doesn't know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior?
I know what some of you are going to say, "How do you know that Mark McGwire doesn't know Jesus Christ?" Well, the only way he could know Christ is to have a personal relationship with Him, that is, to accept Him into your heart as Lord and Savior. I don't know about you, but I have never heard Mark McGwire mention Jesus' name in any way, shape or form, especially not as Lord and Savior of his life. Never have I heard Mark McGwire thank the Lord Jesus Christ for giving him the batting talent that he has. Again, put aside the baloney about him thanking God. That is only a put on to be universally accepted.
Sinful man loves seeking the praises and honor of other men, and will not share it with anyone. Mr. McGwire loves basking in the praises of men like a male peacock strutting its colorful feathers. This St. Louis Cardinals' player is over flowing with pride, thinking he is the greatest when God sees him as nothing more than a lost, Hell bound sinner. And he has most of you fooled by trying to come off as being humble.
If you will, lets forget about Mark McGwire a minute and lets focus on YOU for now. Where do you stand with God? Do you know that God sent Jesus Christ down to earth, to be born of a virgin, and to die on the Cross in order to keep YOU out of an eternal Hell? "For God so loved the world, that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16)."
Jesus Christ died for YOU, sir or mam. He paid the price for YOUR sins. He did it all to keep YOU out of Hell. So, I ask, what are YOU going to do with Jesus? Will YOU continue to reject Him or will YOU accept Him as Lord of YOUR life? Please do not continue rejecting what He did for YOU at Calvary. Eternal life in Heaven awaits YOU, if only YOU would receive Jesus Christ into YOUR heart today.
